Four details make a first message useful.
No specification is needed. Describe how the work runs today, and add what you can of these:
- What the business does, and the size of the job: 'about 4,000 supplier invoices a month', '30 staff in two companies', 'three systems that do not talk to each other'.
- The systems you run today, by name, including the ERP or accounting package, the CRM and the spreadsheets that hold them together.
- What done would look like, in your own words.
- Any date that is not yours to move, such as a launch or a compliance deadline.
Leave passwords, customer records and anything under a confidentiality clause out of the form. If the detail is sensitive, we sign an NDA before you share it.
Every message gets a written reply from a person.
It holds either a question we need answered or a suggested time for a 30-minute call. If what you describe is not something we should build, the reply says so, and where we can, it names who or what would suit you better.
After the call you receive a written scope and one fixed number, or a 'not yet' with the reason, and none of it costs you anything. How an engagement runs sets out every step after that.

What should a software project enquiry include?
What the business does, the systems you use today, roughly how much work is involved and what done would look like. Two or three sentences cover it. Leave out passwords, customer records and anything confidential.
Can I sign an NDA first?
Yes. Ask for one in your message and keep the rest general. We sign your NDA or send ours before you share anything sensitive, and the contract itself carries confidentiality terms that run for three years after it ends, and indefinitely for trade secrets and source code.
